I don't think this will ever happen... Not like this, at least! If multiarch is
to be added there is a proposal by the debian multiarch working group[1],
coordinated by Tollef and others, that will let a debian system be truly
multiarch (that is, have userspace from any of the supported architectures
installed, and maybe run through emulation). I don't remember the exact details
(even if they get explained at every debconf...), though, so we should probably
just go ahead for now... If we have to change, anyway, it's just a path: it
shouldn't be too hard!  ;)
