OK, thanks for pointing out that I'm a friggin' idiot.  :)

I went to 2.6.18-4, and it wouldn't boot on the stable hypervisor, so I 
assumed I needed unstable.. I just realized that I wasn't running the PAE 
hypervisor from -stable. *sigh*
