[Pkg-zfsonlinux-devel] How to cooperate with ZoL and Ubuntu on ZFS package maintenance (Was: Bug#790385: Bug#790385: initramfs-tools: breaks building initramfs for zfs over (mirrored) LUKS - "can't find root device")

In my experience, it is more work than it is worth to keep the debian/
directory in the upstream tarball and repository, so I would recommend
against it.
Anyway, I guess a more high lever question is how we want to cooperate
across Debian, and Debian derivatives like Ubuntu and the ZFS on Linux
teams.
The Debian team meet on IRC, #debian-zfs and this mailing list. Where
is the Ubuntu team meeting? What about the ZoL team? Should we have a
common place to coordinate?
As for merging fixes, I would suggest starting out by bringing the
Ubuntu and Debian packages in sync, and next give priority to get the
fixes from the ZoL packages to hopefully bring all three in sync. But
for that to happen, someone who understand the code need to get to work.
I do not have enough spare time to make a dent in that effort myself.
