Yeah, this is intentional.  There is no simpletal codebase that supports both
Python 2 and 3.

Older versions of the package (<= 4.2,
https://owlfish.com/software/simpleTAL/py2compatible/index.html) are
/only/ compatible with Python 2.x and are packaged in Debian as
'python-simpletal'.

Newer versions (> 4.2) are /only/ compatible with Python 3 and that's
what I've packaged here.

It's not possible to upgrade the python-simpletal in the archive to a
new version that's Python 3 only since there are still python2-only
reverse dependencies.

(If there is a better way of doing this than uploading a new source
package, I'm all ears)
