Those are good points that I hadn't considered.  Hopefully through the
writing of smart handlers (i.e. not my tentative "gunzip | gzip -n"
gzip handler) we'll be able to avoid transitive Build-Depends on heavy
packages like zip.

I like your idea to write code for now and sort out these questions
later :-)
