[sane-devel] scanimage: no SANE devices found

I have an Epson 1240U scanner.  It works fine, but is not recognized by
scanimage or xsane unless I put epson on the command line.  Is this to be
expected with usb scanners, is it a bug (sane 1.0.5), or is it something wrong
in my configuration.


scanimage with and without "-d epson":
