[sane-devel] Bug: xscanimage vs xsane - I/O Errors

Hi,

I checked out and built latest SANE from CVS a few hours ago, seeking
remedy for the 'Read error' bug which was plagueing me when running
2.4.17 kernel (but not happening with 2.2.20).

To recap: most of the time when doing any scan, or second and subsequent
previews, the scanner reads all or nearly all the image, then pops up a
message box saying "Error during read: I/O error during read".

The problem still happens when running latest xsane with latest cvs SANE
frontends and backends.

However, the problem occurs far less often when running 'xscanimage'
instead of xsane'.

So hopefully, with xscanimage working better on 2.4.17, SANE won't drive
me inSANE.

My situation:

SANE: latest cvs
Kernel: 2.4.17, unpatched
Scanner: HP 6350C
Interface: USB
OS: debian unstable

Cheers
David
