As a workaround for this and similar situations try something like
this in xsane-style.rc:

style "mini"
{
  font = "-*-helvetica-medium-r-*-*-8-*-*-*-*-*-*-*"
}
widget "*GtkMenuItem*" style "mini"

Maybe it's better to use a continous range instead of a list for these
many values option and to round in the backend.
