Hi. Sorry for the delay. I replyed yesterday, but the eMail disapeared
somewhere in the data-nirvana :-(

1. Your scanner might also be manufactured by Avision OEM, labelled by
HP. So you need the avision backend for it. I'm on the way of adapting
the backend to the new HP USB scanners.

My new homepage:
  http://drocklinux.dyndns.org/rene/index.html

The updated backend (the side was easier to update):
  http://www.rocklinux.org/people/rene/sane/

2. The backend does still not work properly with the USB scanners,
software colorpack and calibration have to be implemented. But I have
no scanner here. I gave up debugging via eMail, because I have not
enought time, and the USB code locks sometimes the USB-stack ...

3. If you want to play / develop on the new backend, please also read
the updated man-page. For example the allow-usb option must be set to
enable the experimental code fragments.

4. HP tries to send me a scanner since the last CeBIT in 2001 (...),
maybe you can speed up their decission by emailing to
juergen_probst@hp.com or your contries HP ocmpanie something like:
"I'm waiting for the new USB driver for Linux, too - and it would be
really nice if Ren=E9 Rebe would get the test-scanner." - alternatively=

someone could send a scanner over, too ;-)
