[sane-devel] Problem with Acer 640UT, worked before

I have had this scanner working fine in a previous Mandrake and sane version. What happens after a compleete system upgrade is that xsane searches for units forever at start. I have upgraded Mandrake 8.2's sane 1.0.7 to 1.0.8, but the same problem exactly was there before the upgrade too.

My devices list looks like this:

T:  Bus=01 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#=  1 Spd=12  MxCh= 2

and my /etc/sane.d/snapscan.conf like this:
cat /etc/sane.d/snapscan.conf
#------------------------------ General -----------------------------------

# Change to the fully qualified filename of your firmware file, if
# firmware upload is needed by the scanner
firmware /mnt/windows/windows/usbbin/u64v119.bin
# If not automatically found you may manually specify a device name.

# For USB scanners also specify bus=usb, e.g.
/dev/usb/scanner0 bus=usb

# For SCSI scanners specify the generic device, e.g. /dev/sg0 on Linux.
# /dev/sg0

And I have a symlink:

[root@localhost root]# ls /dev/scanner -l
lr-xr-xr-x    1 root     root           17 jul 18  2002 /dev/scanner -> /dev/usb
/scanner0

and /dev/usb/scanner0 does exist, when the scanner is plugged in.
