[sane-devel] Visioneer Paperport 3100

Hi All,

I am interested in writing the driver to get this scanner (Visioneer Paperport 3100) working in Linux with SANE.  I know that the protocol for this scanner has never been released.

I checked the archives and found lots of people wondering when/if someone was working on this but there didn't seem to be anybody (all the messages date back to the late 90's).  It did however look like one person started it, Jeff DeFouw.  If you are still here, how far did you get?

Now, you might be asking why write a driver for a scanner that is four years old and totally out of date.  I feel I have to justify my reasons:

1) I own the scanner, it does everything I need, I don't want to buy another one.
2) I am about to graduate from university, I have some free time, and it would look good on my resume. ;-)
3) This would be a great way to learn about...so many things!!
4) If there are still some poor souls out there who own this antiquated thing (like me), maybe they can dust it off and actually use it!
