moreover, when i send the firmware to the device, i see the scanner's
light flashing and the scan light mechanism moves back and forth a 
couple of times.

/home/jimka/agfafirm /dev/usb/scanner0 /home/jimka/Snape40.bin

thus, i know the scanner is plugged-in etc...
