[sane-devel] sane-find-scanner finds it, scanimage does not

I upgraded to RedHat 7.3 yesterday, which apparently has caused my Epson
610 to stop working. Now, sane-find-scanner detects it:
sane-find-scanner: found USB scanner (vendor = 0x04b8, product = 0x0103) at
device /dev/usb/scanner0
And it shows up in /proc/bus/usb/devices:
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr= 0mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hub
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=255ms
T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=00 Prot=ff MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=04b8 ProdID=0103 Rev= 0.01
S: Manufacturer=EPSON
S: Product=Perfection610
Along with the driver in /proc/bus/usb/drivers:
usbdevfs
hub
48- 63: usbscanner
lsmod shows that I have, among others, the usb-uhci, usbcore, and scanner
modules loaded.
/etc/sane.d/dll.conf has everything but 'epson' commented out,
/etc/sane.d/epson.conf has only 'usb /dev/usb/scanner0' in it, and the
device has what I think are the proper permissions:
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 180, 48 Apr 11 09:25 /dev/usb/scanner0
But when I try 'scanimage -L' it says that 'No scanners were identified.'
What's the problem here?
Thanks!
