You need a SANE source package to compile the tevion backend. The snapshot 
should be available on http://www.mostang.com/sane. 
You can also compile it with e.g. SANE 1.0.7. However, if your kernel version 
is < 2.4.12, you also have to install libusb (http://libusb.sf.net). In this 
case you need a SANE snapshot/CVS version anyways.

I'm talking about the *firmware*, not the driver. You need it to operate your 
scanner, independent of the OS. It doesn't matter, whether you get it from a 
windoze drive or the installation CD.
