OK, I will try to do that, but next time, I will be in office.

Yes. 

So, what do you suggest? Is the only solution, that I write the driver
myself? How much time does it take, to write a driver for HP scanner. Is
their interface somehow inteligent? Are other Scanjets totally uncompatible?
