[sane-devel] New release of sane-backends?

Hi,

It's quite a long time since the last release of sane-backends so I
think we should plan for version 1.0.13.

Our template at doc/releases.txt mentions the following time table:

Day  0: Announcement of upcoming release on sane-devel including timetable
Day 14: Backend freeze (no new backends are allowed to enter the distribution)
Day 21: Feature freeze (only bugfixes + documentation updates)
Day 35: Code freeze (only fixes for bugs that can destroy hardware, can cause 
        compilation problems or render a backend completely unusable, and
        documentation updates are allowed)
Day 42: Release

So if we'd announce the timetable in the next few days, the release
would happen at the end of November. Is anyone against that timetable?

My personal reasons for a new release are:

- The links to the SANE homepage, CVS etc. in the distribution should
  be updated as soon as possible
- There are some majot improvements in porting (especially win32, MacOS X)  
- Lots of bug fixes (e.g. a grave one in gt68xx that stops many people
  from scanning)
- Lots of other updates to the backends
- New translations

Are there any new backends that should be included in 1.0.13?

I think sane-frontends can wait some more time before it needs to be
releases. There are quite some open bugs, maybe someone wants to have
a look at them and either fix or reject them?
