The changes I made so far enable the SnapScan backend to detect the 
scanner and download the firmware file.

Unfortunately the scanner doesn't scan under SANE yet. It seems that 
there were some other protocol changes. I'm currently trying to get 
more USB traces, hopefully they'll make the neccessary changes 
obvious. I'll make an annoncement on the ML once the scanner works 
(and update the snapscan.desc file accordingly).
