I do not think that your scanner is detected, the lines

do not mean that the scanner is detected. This only looks like it because you
put a bad line to the umax.conf file:

A furhter problem will be that your scanner is not supported.
The firmware version 2.9 is buggy and will not work correct:

So I suggest you update the firmware at first when you want to
use the device with SANE.
