Hi Emerson,

I could imagine that it is number format problem in the interface between
the backend (NIASH) and the SANE API (a guess)

Could you please try the testtool (backend) on

http://sourceforge.net/projects/hp3300backend

and make a scan to clarify.

Make sure that make, gcc and the libusb headers are installed, 
before compiling by make - please have a look at the included README 
how to operate the testtool

just call (after having unpacked the tar.gz)

> make 

> ./testtool -s ./test.pic

then open "test.pic" with e.g. GIMP
