[sane-devel] Most stable scanner and OS for SANE?

I need a flatbed scanner (w/ADF) capable of handling 11x17in documents.
Is anyone aware of a model that is particularly stable and consistent?
Also, what OS seems to be the most stable for SANE?

 

I currently have an Avision AV8300 on Ubuntu Edgy/Fiesty but I'm having
problems with scan height (the 'option force-A3' avision.conf entry is
inconsistent).
