Could there be a permissions issue there? I assume you're using a
decent 2.6 kernel from Ubuntu or Debian, so it could be the CanoScan
LiDE 700F scanner just needs to be added to the udev rules.
I'll have to check that out if I find one locally *pats his LiDE 30*.
