 that's strange, it works nicely here

-B, --buffer-size=#        change input buffer size (in kB, default 32)
-V, --version              print version information

Options specific to device `epson2:net:192.168.1.213':
  Scan Mode:
    --mode Binary|Gray|Color [Binary]
        Selects the scan mode (e.g., lineart, monochrome, or color).
    --depth 8 [inactive]
