Hi,

My Canon MF3010 is not correctly detected as a scanner (it works as a
printer, though). I am using Linux Mint 17 with up-to-date packages and
Linux 3.13
$ uname -aLinux myhost 3.13.0-24-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 2 23:30:00
UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/LinuxWhen running sane-find-scanner I get
a Pipe error

$ sudo sane-find-scanner

  # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure
that
  # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

could not fetch string descriptor: Pipe error
  # No USB scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure
that
  # you have loaded a kernel driver for your USB host controller and have
setup
  # the USB system correctly. See man sane-usb for details.

scanimage cannot find a scanner either

$ sudo scanimage -L

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).

The output of lsusb seems correct, though

$ lsusb

That's what I get in syslog when connecting the device

I've already posted this on the Linux Mint forum but was redirected here (
forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=185007&p=958556). Any help would
be very much appreciated!

Thanks
