Yes, this is the current status.

My suggestions is to
a) Add this model as unsupported to 
   http://sane-project.org/lists/sane-backends-external.html
b) Add it as "good" to 
   http://sane-project.org/lists/sane-backends-external.html
   with link to 
http://www.support.xerox.com/support/workcentre-3225/downloads/enus.html?operatingSystem=linux&fileLanguage=en_GB
and possibly my last post with the description in the email archive.
