If that's the case on xubuntu (or any other Debian-based derivative
distribution), then you probably want to install the autopoint and
gettext packages and re-run `./configure`.
But I see Yuri's attached sane-backends.pot file has got you going
already based on [your merge request] to add Hebrew ;-)
Or perhaps not, seeing that you closed it. The CI build failure
happened because you did not add a `po/he.po` file yet. From the
[alpine build log]
make: Entering directory '/builds/e1907/backends/po'
File he.po does not exist. If you are a translator, you can create it through 'msginit'.
make: *** [Makefile:548: he.po-create] Error 1
If you add one, the CI build should got a lot smoother, even if you
don't translate a single message :-)
BTW, I'll keep your [request to join to backends project] pending for
now, at least until you're up to speed ;-) Hope you don't mind.
