The (unmaintained) epsonds backend doesn't list your device as supported
so you might try the driver provided by EPSON.  You can find it via

  http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/?OSC=LX

This should support use via a USB connection with Free Software only.
It only includes a non-free plugin for network support.

Mind you, the SANE Project has *nothing* to do with this.  I developed
most of that "driver" but am no longer involved for a couple of years
already.
