but actually, there is no need to update POT. This was already done by Olaf.

Please use an appropriate application.
poEdit -- simplistic GTK-application for beginners
Lokalize -- KDE/Qt suite with everything you would need to translate
GTranslator -- GNOME translator
Virtaal -- if you like Python
OmegaT -- Java-based translation suite

0. Login into gitlab:
https://about.gitlab.com/
1. Open the branch in your browser
https://gitlab.com/sane-project/backends/tree/release/1.0.29/po
2. Click on "de.po"
3. Click on "Replace" at the top right part of the page.
4. Choose your translated file.
5. Upload it and fix the commit message (something like "Update German
translation").
6. Create merge request.
