I have tried a few more times. 

Whenever I select "Transparency Unit", it fails (invalid operation).
Switch back to "Flatbed" and it works.

I notice that when I switch to transparency Unit, the lower light/tube
remians switched on. I thought that it went off and the TPU top light
only remained.
