Dear SANE Developers,

I am writing to report a hardware revision of the *Plustek OpticFilm 8100*
that is not recognized by the genesys backend on my Ubuntu system (Kernel
6.17.0).
*Important Note:* I am not a programmer or a Linux expert. The technical
details and troubleshooting steps described below were gathered through an
extensive session with an AI assistant to investigate why my device wasn't
working.

*Device details:*

   - *Model:* Plustek OpticFilm 8100
   - *USB ID:* 07b3:1824
   - *Reported String (sane-find-scanner):* found possible USB scanner
   (vendor=0x07b3 [PLUSTEK INC], product=0x1824 [Film Scanner(A1D)],
   chip=GL128) at libusb:001:009

*What I have tried (based on AI guidance):*

   1. Removed ipp-usb and sane-airscan to avoid driverless conflicts.
   2. Added the USB ID 07b3:1824 manually to /etc/sane.d/genesys.conf.
   3. Created a custom udev rule for the ID 1824 to grant user permissions.
   4. Ran SANE_DEBUG_GENESYS=255 scanimage -L, which unfortunately produced
   no output/scanners.

Despite these attempts, scanimage -L and VueScan still fail to detect the
scanner, even though lsusb sees it perfectly.
Since this seems to be a newer revision (ID 1824 instead of the common
130c) using the *GL128 chip*, I am reaching out to see if support can be
added to the official backend.
I am available to provide logs or run specific commands if you can guide me
through the process with simple instructions.

Thank you for your patience and for your work on SANE.
Best regards,
--
