There won't be syncronous write access through a web ui, pretty much
ever. The requirements for locks to implement this in a sane manner,
coupled with the issues of account management, etc. mean that it's
both difficult, and not something that I'm terribly interested in
implementing.
That said, I've no problem with an interface which allows for
generating mail to the BTS via a web interface, assuming it allows for
tying all such modifications to a "real" mail address. (This is
getting closer and closer to real-time, so the fact that it's a bit
asyncronous is going to matter less and less in the future.)

Dropping non-free would set us back at least, what, 300 packages? It'd
take MONTHS to make up the difference, and meanwhile Debian users will
be fleeing to SLACKWARE.
