[Soc-coordination] Interested in Contributing to Debian 2015 (GSOC)

Dear Sir,

My name is Shoban Kalia & I am interested in contributing to Debian for
GSOC 2015. I am good in C++ programming , have basic knowledge of shell
script & is new to open source contribution.

I would like to help you on *Improve one of the Debian MIPS ports (mips,
mipsel, mips64el project.*
I would like to know some basic of this project & how to get started.
