Hi Peter,
I haven't worked on tuxtype for several years, but I installed in just
now on my ubuntu 18.04 machine and it starts correctly. I do know
that ~/.tuxtype/settings.txt is not a required file - it's been a
while, but from what I recall we just used that to save some
additional config settings. I got the same message on startup about
that file not being found, but the program then launched successfully
and all the main activities work.
I'm pretty sure your real error is the next line from Xorg. I'm
afraid I'm not able to help much with that. Tuxtype and tuxmath both
use SDL 1.2, which is now pretty dated. I guess you can see if
tuxmath installs and runs.
I'm cc'ing the tuxpaint list as tuxpaint is still actively developed,
and someone there may know more about issues related to SDL and Xorg.
Regards - David
