Adding to what Rui said - The project is not "dead as dead", it's
"comatose as in everybody interested in working is overwhelmed with
other stuff" :-(

I try to do at least one subtitle every year. This year, I... Just
haven't had time to even think about it, even though I had announced
I'd be taking Keith Packard's talk on memory-based large-scale
computing.

Do take it, or whatever you are interested in! As others have said,
aegisub is being dropped off testing due to FTBFS, and Alioth is in
the process of migration and shutdown, but you can still use the Git
repository, you can use aegisub on stable and unstable, and you can
use amara.org. Any work you do is most welcome!
