Dear Roderic,

since its inclusion in Debian, TreeView X has a regular user base on apparently
100 to 200 machines running Debian's “popularity contest” report system.

http://qa.debian.org/popcon-graph.php?packages=treeviewx&show_vote=on&want_legend=on&want_ticks=on&from_date=&to_date=&hlght_date=&date_fmt=%25Y-%25m&beenhere=1

However, we have a problem: Debian is migrating to wxWindows 3.0, and TreeView X
does not work with it.

I have opened an issue in Google Code
(http://code.google.com/p/treeviewx/issues/detail?id=4), which points at
Debian's bug tracking system (http://bugs.debian.org/751255).

In brief, we (actually, Olly Betts <olly at survex.com>) prepared patches
to correct build failures.

http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/debian-med/trunk/packages/treeviewx/trunk/debian/patches/wx3.0-compat.patch?revision=17139&view=markup

http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/debian-med/trunk/packages/treeviewx/trunk/debian/patches/treeview-xpm-not-xbm.patch?revision=17272&view=markup

http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/debian-med/trunk/packages/treeviewx/trunk/debian/patches/svg.patch?revision=17140&view=markup

This was not enough as TreeView X would then crash when loading a tree.
Compiling with -DNDEBUG suppressed the crash, but then the leaves of the tree
did not display their names anymore.

Do you think that you can upgrade TreeView X to work with wxWindows 3.0 ?

Have a nice day

Charles
