Well, it is not the Mittelpunkt anyway, and focus point is not very
clear to me (maybe it makes sense to some OpenGL graphics guy). I don't
think much information is lost, the camera orbits around.

Case in point, the RotateXY and RotateZ rotate around the same "focus
point" AFAICT.

Yes, that's the term. Those are about generating different conformations
(either random or systematic), by changing bond angles and seeing which
have a favourable energy.
