Initial Comment:
I am using minicom with a USB to serial adapter.
If I unplug the USB adapter, minicom start using about 96% of the CPU.

kernel-2.6.18-8.1.8.el5 on CentOS 5
Dell Inspiron 6000, Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz
Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port
