Hello Adam:
My name is Jose, I'm from España.
Sorry for my English, I speak it quite badly.
I write to you because I have a problem, and I think it is produced by some error in the minicom source code.
If I remember correctly, I detected this problem in 2015, when Debian Jessie was published.
I explain:
I run minicom from konsole (kde), or from mate-terminal (mate).
In both cases, I previously set up IBM850 encoding (ASCII 256).
.minirc.dfl has this configuration:
# Machine-generated file - use setup menu in minicom to change parameters.
pu pname9 YUNYNascii
pu pprog9 / usr / bin / ascii-xfr -dsv -c 10 -l 80
pu port / dev / ttyUSB0
pu baudrate 38400
pu minit ^ MCLS ^ m
pu statusline disabled
I launch minicom, which connects to a serial port of a Prologue server.
And the screen representation fails.
I attached some images where you can see better what happens.
I have machines running with Ubuntu 14.04 and this problem does not occur.
I've also tried picocom, on Ubuntu 14.04, 19.10 and Debian 10, and it doesn't happen.
It is for this reason that I believe it is a problem in the minicom source code.
Can you take a look?
Thanks in advance and greetings from España!
Jose.

Hola Adam:
# Machine-generated file - use setup menu in minicom to change parameters.
pu pname9 YUNYNascii
pu pprog9 /usr/bin/ascii-xfr -dsv -c 10 -l 80
pu port /dev/ttyUSB0
pu baudrate 38400
pu minit ^MCLS^m
pu statusline disabled
Tambien he probado picocom, en Ubuntu 14.04, 19.10 y Debian 10, y no ocurre.
Jose.
