What if you try it without the '-x generic' option? (If you're using
the Development branch from CVS, there is a Tripplite backend in
newhidups, and it appears to match your UPS's USB VID/PID).

Also, I think you might get some slightly more readable output if you
drop back to '-DD' instead of '-DDDD'.
