[Nut-upsuser] Weird usbhid-ups issue with Eaton 9PX1500RT-L

I previously had NUT working correctly with a CyberPower UPS. In a bid to
improve the longevity of the batteries and the reliability of power
reporting, I replaced it with an Eaton 9PX1500RT-L. With the the ups
driver is not coming up with the Eaton and best I can figure out it is
because it finds it but then gets an error while reading information
from it.

This is on current unstable NixOS, using the packaged version of NUT,
which is 2.8.2.

My ups.conf is pretty simple:

------- start of ups.conf
maxstartdelay = 45

[Garage-Eaton9PX1500L]
       driver = usbhid-ups
       port = auto
       desc = "UPS for garage systems"
       sdorder = 0
       serial = PG00R42NT5
------- end of ups.conf

I have tried without the "serial" line as will. To debug, I'm running
upsdrvctl manually as follows:

NUT_CONFPATH=/etc/nut NUT_STATEPATH=/var/lib/nut/ upsdrvctl -DDD -d -u root start

I'll paste the full output below, but I think the key information is
the section when matching the UPS device:

    0.065541     [D2] Unable to get Report descriptor: Resource temporarily unavailable
----- end of extract of upsdrvctl debug output

After this it starts checking the next device. Notice the two HID
descriptors reported and the error:

Unable to get Report descriptor: Resource temporarily unavailable

After this the next line is about checking the next device. I also
get errors when dumping detailed information about the device using lsusb:

------- start of output of 'lsusb -d 0463:ffff -vv >/dev/null'
can't get debug descriptor: Resource temporarily unavailable
------- end of output of 'lsusb -d 0463:ffff -vv >/dev/null'

I omitted standard output because a lot of information is dumped. If it is useful
I can provide it.

However, I can read a descriptor using usbhid-dump:

-------- start of 'usbhid-dump -a 7:2' output

-------- end of 'usbhid-dump -a 7:2' output

Based on this I don't think NUT specifically is at fault, though most
results from relevant Google searches seem to indicate that this is likely
a hardware or device firmware issue. Since the USB port on the computer was
working fine with the Cyberpower UPS I'm suspecting a firmware issue with
the Eaton. However, it isn't obvious to me that there are updates from
Eaton's web site.

I tried a few different index values for usb_hid_rep_index and
usb_hid_ep_in in the hope that might avoid the resource unavailable error.

Does anyone more knowledgeable about NUT than I am have suggestions for me?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
