This should be a followup to bug#458010, but it has already been closed and archived:

When using debian's 2.6.24 source, or using debians 2.6.24 compiled
package, I still don't have a working maestro3 soundcard.  2.6.24 comes
with alsa 1.0.15:

On the other hand, 2.6.22-3-686 comes with version 1.0.14, and it does
detect and work:
