OK, that patch is needed, given that lintian still complains:

  <http://lintian.debian.org/tags/configure-generated-file-in-source.html>

While it would be better to patch upstream build process, as lintian
suggests, for the time being simply merging the patch will be fine.
Alexandro, given that my `git merge`-foo is still lacking, would you
mind doing it?
