I also enhanced the install-dbconfig script a bit and now the package 
compiles and builds.

But I am so very not confident that the script still does what it 
should, with the awk script in the mix and all.

The extracted dbconfig upgrade snippets look wrong (and very likely 
*are* wrong), quite possibly because of the strange version 
criss-crossing the original upgrade scripts do to get to version 1022 
with several intermediate versions in between.

This whole part probably needs in depth checking and possibly rewriting.
