I certainly did. Even just resolving the release-critical bug is a big
step forward. I believe my package is just about ready to be released
with Jessie.

I understand. Unfortunately there is a limited number of interesting and
useful things that any person can do. You appear to be doing your fair
share. ;-)

I will try to look for a sponsor via those channels. However, given the
specialist nature of GHDL, I think the present mailing lists may
actually be my best hope.
Request-for-Sponsor: If there is any Debian developer here who would
like to see GHDL back in Debian, please consider sponsoring my package.
Although upstream activity on GHDL has slowed down, it is currently
still by far the best free VHDL compiler. It is used for serious work,
such as simulating complex system-on-chip designs. Having a Debian
package for GHDL is especially important because building from source
is difficult. Most VHDL designers will not be able to install GHDL from
scratch. The only way these people are able to use GHDL is if we
provide a good, up-to-date Debian package.
Pascal, thanks for your encouragement and positive comments.
Joris.
