Hi Scott,

you have not done anything wrong ;) so nothing is broken ;)

you are correct -- if at some point we just remove your branch from
alioth without merging it and run garbage collection on git repository
-- it would prune your heavy commits.  But I hope we never would do
that, right? ;)

whenever you push your branch onto alioth, anyone fetching our
repository will fetch your branch as well -- so will have to fetch all
12MB

can't you select just a subpart of a file? like we have for BOLD sample
-- just 1 slice. That reduces the size considerably and makes it
possible to ship it for unittests without causing too much traffic
