nah -- it blends fine -- whatever ugliness I've got there is due to
* experimentation with retraining (got somewhat obsolete with
  CachedKernels)
* age: we support(ed) shogun since its relative young age -- so there is
  additional burden of hiding changes in API
* taking care about exposing debug output from shogun
* etc

but overall their interface is imho straightforward (we are using
python-modular interface, but they also have "python" one which is more
of client/server queries ;))

that is true enough, but having it in mind might benefit in the long(er)
run since shogun seems to be quite exhaustive in terms of SVM
implementations (and other kernel methods). 

NB shogun is GPLed
