Dear PyMVPA users,

after almost two years of development we now have a very first release
candidate of the new upcoming major release 0.6. This new series will
eventually replace our workhorse 0.4 that was first released to the
public in Nov 2008.

This new release will bring significant changes that will hopefully make
using PyMVPA more enjoyable, more flexible and also simpler.

This release candidate has all the technical features that we are
planning to have in the first 0.6 series release. We will still work
on documentation to make the transition as smooth as possible.

If you are using PyMVPA 0.4, now is definitely the time to take a look
at 0.6 and let us know how it fits your needs.

If you are just starting with PyMVPA, now is the time to go for this new
series, instead 0.4.

The source tarball is avialable at https://alioth.debian.org/frs/?group_id=30954

The RC is tagged 'upstream/0.6.0.rc1' and pushed to various Git
repositories, including https://github.com/PyMVPA/PyMVPA

Over the next days we will update the python-mvpa-snapshot Debian packages to
ship 0.6.0.rc1 and push them to http://neuro.debian.net

Shortly after, we will update our current website at http://www.pymvpa.org/
with the shiny new content (incl. the tutorial) from http://dev.pymvpa.org/.

Depending on your experience with RC1, we will have an RC2 and maybe RC3
with the final documentation.

We hope you enjoy PyMVPA 0.6.

Michael and Yarik
