Yes, figured this out too last night early in the morning (or evening). ;)
I prepared a update to the control file which adds a dependency on
php-services-json to zarafa-webapp and added also some linking to
JSON.php. And this issue was gone, but now we are struggling with a 304
error while loading something. What there is exactly going wrong, I
don't now currently.
But wait, I remember a patch from Jelle about dropping the JSON.php
complete from the source inside the PHP files...

If we take the first older RC version (which isn't in the git tree
anymore) the WebUI works as expected. debdiff is showing the following
small differences. But don't count much on this diff ...

Yes, the PHP logging isn't clear to me, the htaccess file is using a
relative path for the output file. Better using here a absolute path to
/var/log/zarafa/ for example.
