 From the rules file:
  # Add here commands to clean up after the build process.
  -$(MAKE) distclean
  -test -r /usr/share/misc/config.sub && \
    cp -f /usr/share/misc/config.sub config.sub
  -test -r /usr/share/misc/config.guess && \
    cp -f /usr/share/misc/config.guess config.guess

 After this the relibtoolize patch fails because the config.{sub,guess} on my 
 system is different from the one in gedit tarball... So it's not my build
 enviroment changing/updating/corrupting but the gedit package itself. 

 BTW there are nicer ways to ask people for help :)
