Actually we grabbed the desktop files from Ubuntu. They are not
auto-generated from the upstream xml files. I guess they were, once,
and since have been maintained by hand. Any help to fix this would be
appreciated. I have unfortunately no experience with i18n.

Thanks for the link, I was not aware of the difference. Is it just the
.desktop or in the binary? Is there a patch somewhere?
Otherwise, an option would be to change the name of "your" version
("gnomesquares"?). We could add an NotShowin=Gnome for the other, for
instance.
