Thanks! That did the trick.

However, may I suggest turning this bug report into a wishlist item? Debian 
installer automatically detects and inserts into the GRUB boot menu any OS 
aside Linux, so it would be nice migrating to GRUB 2 take into account a 
similar process, maybe considering os-prober as a dependency and updating grub 
within a post-installation script.
